HISTORIA
La Granja, situada a 15 Km. de Palma, es una bella mansión del S. X, rodeada de frondosa vegetación, bellos jardines y fuentes naturales.
Muy valorada ya en tiempo de los romanos por el gran caudal de sus aguas, cuenta aún hoy con un magnífico surtidor de presión natural de treinta pies de altura, que da testimonio de su potencia. Fue también de gran interés para los moros que dominaron la isla desde el S. X hasta el XIII.
Con la conquista cristiana de 1229, inicia su nuevo periplo con un breve período de tiempo de posesión feudal, hasta que el 1239 fue cedida a los monjes cistercienses que la regentaron durante 200 años, hasta que pasó a D. Mateo Vida. Durante otros 200 años dicha familia la ocupó hasta que pasó a los Sres. Fortuny. El actual propietario es D. Cristóbal Seguí Colom.
La Granja – resultado de varias épocas y avatares – es una mezcla de estilo señorial y rústico, porque además de utilizarse como residencia era también una “possessió” dedicada a la producción agrícola, llegando a tener más de cien menestrales. Ello le confiere el inexplicable encanto de una construcción antigua bien conservada – y que mantiene por tanto el dignísimo estilo propio – pero que a la vez cuenta también con los elementos más decisivos de nuestro rico pasado cultural. Hoy es una auténtica muestra viviente de las costumbres mallorquinas a través del tiempo.

La Granja, situated 15 Km from Palma, is a beautiful 10th century mansion, surrounded by lush vegetation, beautiful gardens and natural fountains.
Greatly valued in Roman times for the vast quantity of water which flowed there, it still has a magnificent natural spring, thirty feet high, as evidence of its power. It was also of great interest to the Moors, who dominated the island from the 10th century until the 13th century. With the Christian conquest of 1229 a new phase begins, with a brief period of feudal possession, until in 1230 it was handed over to the Cistercian monks, who held it for 200 years, until it became the property of D. Mateo Vida. This family owned it for another 200 years, after which it was passed to the Fortuny family. The present owner is D. Cristóbal Seguí Colom.
La Granja – the result of many periods and changes – is a mixture of stately and rustic style, because, as well as being used as a residence, it was also an estate dedicated to agricultural production, which at one time had more than a hundred workers. This is what gives it the inexplicable charm of a well-preserved old building which maintains a very appropriate style of its own – but at the same time has the most decisive elements of our rich cultural past. Today it is a genuine living display of Majorcan customs through ages.
GESCHICHTE
La Granja, 15 km von Palma gelegen, ist ein stattliches Gutsgehöft aus dem 10. Jahrhundert, umgeben von üppiger Vegetation, hübschen Gärten und natürlichen Quellen.
Bereits zu Zeiten der Römer war es wegen des Wassers seiner Bäche sehr geschäzt, und heute gibt e shier einen prächtigen, 30 Fuss hohen Naturspringbrunnen, der Zeugnis des gewaltigen Wasserdruckes liefert. Auch die Mauren interessierten sich sehr für das Gehöft, als sie vom 10-13. Jahrhundert die Insel beherrschten. Mit der Eroberung durch die Christen im Jahre 1229 begann seine neue Epoch emit einem kurzfristigen Übergang in Feudalbesitz, bis es 1239 an die Zisterziensermönche abgetreten wurde, in deren Besitz es 200 Jahre lang blieb, bis es an Herrn Mateo Vida überging. Weitere 200 Jahre hindurch blieb es im Besitz dieser Familie, bis es der Familie Fortuny übereignet wurde. Der heutige Eigentümer ist Herr Cristóbal Seguí Colom.
La Granja – Ergebnis vieler und schicksalhafter Epochen – sit eine Mischung aus herrschaftlichem und ländlichem Stil, denn neben seiner Funktion als Herrschaftssitz war es zugleich eine Landgut zur Produktion landwirtschaftlicher Erzeugnisse, mit zuweilen über einhundert Beschäftigten. Dies verleiht dem Anwesen den schwer zu beschreibenden Zauber eines altehrwürdigen, gut erhaltenen Gebäudes von ganz eigenem, beeindruckendem Stil – aber zugleich nennt es die wesentlichsten Elemente unserer reichen kulturellen Vergangenheit sein eigen. Heute ist es ein lebendes Originalbeispiel für die mallorquinischen Bräuche im Ablauf der Zeiten.
